@Bow How pricey is it to get yourself stocked for furniture restoration? Curious cos I find soooo many items on the roadside that I have contemplated nabbing... but idk some of em are all rickety and I don't know anything about wood joinery 😅

I ended up getting myself a little round sander @Jynx  it was $60 I think from bunnings. It’s heaps good and so much better than our old one that ya have to use a lot of elbow grease. So I just use a paint stripper, that can be a little $$$, then give it a good wipe down, sand it and then an undercoat, paint and then sealer. I’m mostly enjoying it and keep looking on marketplace for cheap or free furniture! But the I’ve finished our new dining table. Started a tv unit. And then I have 6 dining chairs, a hall table and a vintage kid’s wardrobe and a coffee table to do. So lots to keep me going.

ive been a few times. But not for many years. Have booked a couple of nights during the school holidays for daughter and I. She hasn’t been. And we will do the blue mountains book trail.

@Bow oh that's really affordable!! Way to tempt me haha the sanding was one of the things making me hesitate! 

Sounds like quite a hobby, I love it!! If I ever get stuck into it I'll come hit you up for some tips hehe. Do you make any coin off it?

Yeah the sanding has always put me off up cycling @Jynx  i hate it. But stripping it back first and then using this smaller round sander is so much nicer and easier. 

nah no coin off it. Not yet anyways. All the pieces I’m gonna do are for us. But maybe. Maybe it’s something I could do. 

It would be heaps cool if there was snow up there, but they don’t usually get it. There is 10 second hand bookshops on the way up to katoomba. So we have the map and the list and we are gonna do that. D will love it!

@Bow could be a great lil hobby! Using your hands a lot, creative problem-solving, and the potential for some extra cashola!! Heck I have kinda inspired myself a little 😂

Omg that's SO cute!! I have been wanting to go find some Terry Pratchett novels so maybe I should stop going to op shops and actually find some second hand book stores!! 

When do you head off? Just you and D or your mum going too?

 I have a two door wardrobe like these, just not as fancy looking. 

we love finding cute little second hand bookshops. D has her books that she is hunting for and I have my books. We always usually come away with some goodies each. 

We are going in the first week of the holidays. Just me and D. Now just gotta get myself to there. Survive this week.

Hehe thought I was watching some survivor then! All of them things sound really helpful and hopefully I can do all that to get through the week. The 3rd will be the hardest. 
I need to find out what days my SW is away. I swear she said she was taking the whole week off for her birthday- she said that weeks ago, but I got the impression this week that that has perhaps changed. 

nope, we go away the week following week. And back on the Friday to tell ya all about it!

Yeah really hoping that maybe she will just take her birthday off if that’s what she was planning. I think it’s Tuesday. All digits crossed she is around Thursday and yes she could organise for another SW to come visit if needed. Not real keen on that. But maybe if she’s not around then it might be helpful.
